2. Browser storage
These values are kept in your browser’s storage. Most never leave your device; where one is sent to Vocaic’s server to make a feature work, the table says so. Clearing your site data removes them.
| Key | Purpose | Duration | Necessary? |
|---|---|---|---|
vocaic-talk-prefs | Remembers your Talk name, mode, language and accent voice so you do not re-enter them. | Until you clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-talk-autoplay | Remembers whether incoming voice messages play automatically in a Talk room. | Until you clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-guide-hint | Set to “1” to remember that Ava’s first-visit hint was already shown, so it is not shown again. | Until you clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-guide-voice | Remembers the accent or language you chose for Ava, the AI guide, so she keeps that voice on your next visit. | Until you clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-voice-designs | Keeps the voices you designed in Studio (the Vocaic voice and the pitch, tone, pace and breath you chose) so you can reuse them. | Until you clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-studio-editor (IndexedDB) | Saves your Studio editor projects and the media you add to them, on your device only, so a project is there when you come back. | Until you delete the project or clear site data | Functional |
Browser cache (/models/) | Keeps the files of Vocaic's on-device speech and audio engine after the first use, so transcription, dubbing and clean-up start quickly and work without uploading your audio. | Until your browser clears its cache | Functional |
vocaic-ava-memory | Holds the notes you ask Ava to remember on her page. They are listed, and can be deleted, in the “What Ava remembers” panel, and are sent with your questions only as context; they are never stored on Vocaic’s server. | Until you delete a note or clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-ava-chats (IndexedDB) | Keeps your conversations with Ava on this device so you can return to them, search, rename or delete them. Only the message you send (with its recent conversation) goes to Vocaic to be answered. | Until you delete a conversation or clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-ava-instructions | Your custom instructions for Ava (how you want her to answer). Sent with your questions as context. | Until you clear them or clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-ava-answer-lang | The language you want Ava to answer in. | Until you change it or clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-voice-library-likes | Remembers which Voice library voices you liked on this device, so the library shows them as liked. | Until you clear site data | Functional |
vocaic-speech-pending-voice | Passes the voice you picked with “Use this voice” in the Voice library to Text to speech; it is read once and removed. | Removed as soon as it is read | Functional |
vocaic-agent-builder-key | Holds the developer key you use on the agent builder page so your agents stay available to you. It is sent to Vocaic only to authorize your requests, and Vocaic keeps only a SHA-256 hash of it. | Until you remove it or clear site data | Functional |
App cache (service worker: vocaic-shell-*, vocaic-static-*, vocaic-media-*) | Lets Vocaic open quickly and show an offline page when you install it as an app or return to the site. It keeps only public site files and media; it never stores API answers, rooms, investor pages or anything tied to a cookie. Old copies are deleted when a new version starts. | Until a new version replaces it or you clear site data | Functional |
3. No advertising or analytics
Vocaic uses no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no outside tracking or fingerprinting. Because the only cookies are strictly necessary, no consent banner is required and there is nothing to opt out of. If this ever changes, this notice and the Privacy Notice will be updated first.
4. Controlling storage
You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop Talk rooms or the investor room from working, since those features rely on them. Questions can be sent to agarw574@purdue.edu.
